How to Troubleshoot Common Issues with Aluminum Patio Tables

Aluminum patio tables are a popular choice for many homeowners because they are lightweight, durable, and require minimal maintenance. However, even the best patio tables can experience occasional problems. If you are having trouble with your aluminum patio table, here are a few troubleshooting tips.

Wobbly Table

A wobbly table can be a nuisance and a safety hazard. If your table is wobbly, the first thing you should do is check the legs. Make sure that all of the legs are tightened securely. If the legs are loose, tighten them using a wrench or Allen key.

If the legs are not loose, the problem may be with the table's frame. The frame is the metal structure that supports the table top. If the frame is bent or damaged, it can cause the table to wobble. To check the frame, place the table on a level surface and push down on each corner. If the frame is bent, you will see it move.

If the frame is bent, you can try to bend it back into place. However, it is important to be careful not to damage the frame further. If you are not comfortable bending the frame yourself, you can contact a professional repairman.

Scratched Table Top

Scratches on the table top are a common problem, especially if you have children or pets. If your table top is scratched, you can try to repair it using a scratch repair kit. These kits are available at most hardware stores.

To repair a scratch, clean the area around the scratch with a mild detergent and water. Then, apply the scratch repair compound to the scratch using a soft cloth. Buff the area until the scratch is no longer visible.

If the scratch is deep, you may need to sand the area before applying the scratch repair compound. To sand the area, use a fine-grit sandpaper. Sand the area in small circles until the scratch is smooth. Then, apply the scratch repair compound as directed above.

Rust Spots

Rust spots on the table top or legs are a sign that the metal has been exposed to moisture. To remove rust spots, you can use a rust remover. These removers are available at most hardware stores.

To remove a rust spot, apply the rust remover to the spot using a soft cloth. Let the rust remover sit for a few minutes, then wipe it off with a clean cloth. Repeat the process until the rust spot is removed.

If the rust spot is deep, you may need to sand the area before applying the rust remover. To sand the area, use a fine-grit sandpaper. Sand the area in small circles until the rust spot is smooth. Then, apply the rust remover as directed above.

Other Issues

In addition to the issues listed above, you may also experience other problems with your aluminum patio table. These problems can include:

Faded paint

Loose screws

Broken welds

If you experience any of these problems, you can contact a professional repairman. A repairman can diagnose the problem and make the necessary repairs.
