How to Remove Rust from Your Metal Patio Side Table
One of the downsides of having metal patio furniture is the inevitable appearance of rust, which can make your once beautiful side table look worn out and neglected. But fear not! With a few simple steps, you can easily remove rust from your metal patio side table and restore it to its former glory.
Materials You'll Need:
- Baking soda
- Vinegar
- Lemon juice
- Steel wool or wire brush
- Rust converter
- Protective gloves
- Cloth
Step 1: Scrub the Rust
Start by scrubbing the rusty areas of the table with a steel wool or wire brush to remove any loose rust flakes. Be sure to wear protective gloves during this step to avoid injuring your hands.
Step 2: Make a Rust-Removing Paste
Mix equal parts of baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice to create a paste. Apply this paste to the remaining rust spots on the table and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
Step 3: Scrub Again
After the paste has had time to work its magic, scrub the rusted areas once more with a steel wool or wire brush. This should help lift off any remaining rust.
Step 4: Apply Rust Converter
Use a rust converter according to the manufacturer's instructions. This will help to neutralize any remaining rust and prevent it from coming back in the future.
Step 5: Clean and Protect
Wipe down the table with a damp cloth to remove any leftover rust remover or residue. To protect your side table from future rusting, consider applying a coat of rust-inhibiting paint or a metal sealer.
With these simple steps, you can easily remove rust from your metal patio side table and keep it looking as good as new for years to come!
